Community Gardens
The city of Mounds View, MN has three community gardens, each with its own unique focus and purpose.
- Community Learning Garden at Edgewood Middle School
- Plots Garden for the Food Shelf at Edgewood Middle School
- Long Lake Plots Garden for Rent near the Mounds View compost site

Location: Edgewood Middle School
Community Learning Garden
Goal: The goal of this space is to learn gardening from each other while also provide community through collective efforts.
Structure: Community members meet once a month at the garden to take care of it and collect the harvest. Community members join as much or as little as they would like.
Cost/Participation: This garden is free to participate in, and open to anyone in the community. No experience is necessary. We invite you to come out and learn about gardening through hands-on experience!
Location: Edgewood Middle School
Edgewood Plots for the Food Shelf
Goal: Provide fresh produce for the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf in Mounds View.
Structure: There are 8 raised plots within this garden, which community members can sign up to maintain and grow throughout the season.
Cost/Participation: Free to participate, and open to any community member. Half of what you harvest will be donated to Ralph Reeder Food Shelf.
Location: Near the Mounds View Compost site
Long Lake Plots for Rent
Goal: Provide garden plots to enable residents of Mounds View to have their own garden space.
Structure: Each garden plot is rented to a resident, and that resident is responsible for planting, maintaining, and harvesting their plot.
Cost/Participation: Garden plots are rented by the year. Participation is restricted to residents of Mounds View, and the majority of the plots will go to residents living in multi-family housing.
