What is a Seed Library?
Commercial seed packets often come with more seeds than a home gardener needs, leading to seeds that are not used. In a seed library, seeds are put into packets with fewer seeds to allow community members access to the amount of seeds they'll actually use in their garden.
How does the Mounds View Seed Library work?
Mounds View residents meet around February/March each year to take seeds from commercial seed packets and separate them out into smaller packets with fewer seeds. These packets are then labelled and put in the seed library, which is located by the self check-out at the Mounds View Public Library. Anyone is welcome to take seeds to grow them at home. If you would like to volunteer with the seed library to re-package seeds, email info@cultivatemv.com to get on the mailing list.

Happy 2026 everyone!
The last two years have brought generous donations from the White Bear Lake Seed Library and much help to the development of our own in Mounds View. Check out their site for more information!
This year, we hope to bring more information to patrons of the library and would love to hear your input. Please email us your ideas and we will see what we can do. Make sure to check out the additional resources for planting help here.
